Kashoro Nyenyezi

MPA, Executive Director and Co-Founder of Helping Hand for Survivors

Biography

Originally from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Kashoro holds an undergraduate degree in International Studies and Diplomacy from the State University of New York at Oneonta, NY (2005), and a graduate degree in Public Administration from Strayer University at Washington, DC Campus (2011). As a result of her work with sexually abused women and their children in the DRC, she entered George Mason University in 2015, to pursue a PhD in Conflict Analysis and Resolution and Gender Studies.  Kashoro’s previous research (thesis) focused on a study of HIV epidemic among Congolese women in the eastern region of the DRC from 1996 to 2011.  She witnessed and learned how gender-based violence used in conflict in the DRC destroyed lives of many Congolese women and girls.  Therefore, she felt a strong conviction to give back to these women and their unwanted children through education and protection programs leading to promotion of self-confidence and survival skills.
