Shola is currently a student at UofT where she is studying an M.Ed in Social Justice Education. She has recently returned home to Toronto after three years working as a language and culture assistant in the South of Spain. Prior to teaching in Spain, she completed her undergraduate degree at McGill University in Gender, Sexuality, Feminism and Social Justice Studies.
Shola is passionate about issues related to gender and racial inequality all over the world. She is motivated to collaborate with HHS in order continue learning how to empower and support women and children in different contexts. She is grateful to be engaging with members of HHS in Canada, the U.S and the Congo and hopes to contribute to the great work they are all doing.
Mr. Julien holds a bachelor’s degree in computer Science (Bsc) from Catholic University of Eastern Africa in Kenya/Nairobi; He is interested in networking Cyber Security holding CISCO/CCNA certificates from Kenyatta University (K.U) , web programming development, with several successful adventures including electrical management projects because he holds a Diploma in Electrical Engineering since 2012.
Julien is interested in Networking (Cisco Certified Network Associate Routing & Switching (CCNA). He established some web programming and management of Networking Services for several Organisations.
Helping Hand for Survivors (HHS) will benefit from his long experience in communication to spread information of the organization’s achievements worldwide using new technology.
Mr. Paques acquires a degree in law from the Catholic University of Bukavu (Private and Judiciary law). He studied humanitarian studies at Nyantende Institute and in Bukavu where he obtained his diplomat in literacy. Me. Paques specializes in humanitarian and academic studies. He works as a profession lawyer in Bukavu where he assists and defends the causes of the most marginalized people as well as those striving to fight for justice.
Elizabeth graduated in financial management from Evangelical University in Africa (UEA). Elizabeth completed internships at the Commercial Bank of Congo (BCDC) and the CAHI Savings and Credit Cooperative (COOPEC CAHI), in Bukavu where she proved her management skills. She has been trained in financial education at the Savings and Credit Cooperative
Sandra graduated in social organization of the High Institute of Rural Development, (ISDR) since 2011. She is an expert in social service support with several years of experience in different organizations such as CIALCA, Kotecha and now in charge of the Women Empowerment Department, supporting rural women as the Director of Mother Leaders in the community at Helping Hand for survivors.
Neema graduated from the University of Management in Bukavu, South-Kivu 2012. Neema brings great experience in organizational management for more than 7 years taking charge of emergency management in the organization such as ASOV and oversaw supervision and follow-up of the programs of all schools in the organization TSBF. She is now the head of the Department of Education at Helping Hand for Survivors as well as making sure all the beneficiaries are following instructions on caring for their sick children.
Amini is a Nutritionist and graduated from the High Institute of Medical and Technics (ISTM) in Bukavu since 2008. Amini has been a nutritionist since then and now a head of the Department of Nutrition at Helping Hand for Survivors since 2012. She also manages the health of children with malnutrition under 5 years old as well as overseeing the Department of WASH. Amini’s interest is meeting health care professionals and other nutritionists like her, to better serve those who are in need.
Originally from Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Dr. Luhere holds an undergraduate degree in Biomedical from the Evangelic University of Africa and a doctorate degree from the University of Lubumbashi, DRC (2002). He is a Certified Medical Doctor in DRC, Zambia and Malawi and has worked and lived there as a physician.Additionally, Dr. Luhere acquires a Master of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of the District of Columbia in Washington, DC (2014). His thesis was based on the factors that lead to persistent malnutrition among children under five years old in Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo.
Dr. Jean Clause worked as Project Specialist and Community Educator Nutrition & Dietetics, at the Centers of the College of Agriculture, Urban Sustainability and Environmental Sciences (CAUSES) of the University of the District of Columbia after his graduation. He implemented nutritional supplementary education on feeding programs. He also worked as Health and Nutrition Project Manager for Samaritan’s Purse International Relief in Democratic Republic of Congo managing and coordinating all the health and nutrition projects in the country.
